Covid-19 guidance for heating technicians
Last updated - 25/08/2021
As restrictions begin to relax across regions, Covid-19 will undoubtedly continue to impact our lives.
We therefore strongly recommend that heating technicians remain cautious to protect themselves and others and help avoid the risk of increasing transmission rates ahead of the colder winter months.
This page provides information and links to official guidance for the United Kingdom and Ireland but, as this can be subject to change with little or no notice, we recommend that you check your local government’s website for the latest advice in your area.
Advice for customers
The Trustmark Work Safe. Safe Work campaign offers straightforward advice about working in other people’s homes and is a great resource to share with customers. It’s aimed at the UK market, but the advice is applicable for Ireland too.
If somebody tests positive for coronavirus
- No work should be carried out by a tradesperson who has tested positive for coronavirus or who is experiencing coronavirus symptoms, however mild, or where someone in their household has symptoms. These include:
- a new continuous cough
- a high temperature
- a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of smell
- No work should be carried out in a household which is isolating because one or more family members has coronavirus symptoms. The only exception to this is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household, and additional precautions should be taken.
For vulnerable households
If work needs to be carried out in a household where an occupant is clinically vulnerable, additional precautions should be taken to avoid face-to-face contact. Tradespeople should be strict about handwashing, coughing and sneezing hygiene, such as covering the nose and mouth and disposing of single use tissues.
