Republic of Ireland goes “condensing”
New regulations regarding boilers have just come into force in the Republic of Ireland. From 1st April 2008, any new installations or replacement oil boilers should be condensing ones.
Condensing boilers are highly efficient, meaning reduced fuel usage and lower bills for consumers.
Jeremy Hawksley, Director General of OFTEC, commented, “It is well documented that a boiler that isn’t running efficiently could waste you hundreds of pounds each year on repair bills and extra fuel costs. Modern condensing boilers are up to 17% cheaper to run than their conventional counterparts, and some oil condensing boilers have efficiencies of up to 97%.”
