How is the Training and Assessment process organised?
Training Competent PersonsAll OFTEC training and assessments are in modular format, and most of our assessments result in a certificate issued by a UKAS accredited Certification Body for the purpose of registering with OFTEC.
At present we have seven Certification Bodies able to issue certificates for oil assessments, BPECC Ltd, ERS, NIC Certification, CITB, Logic Certification Ltd, Blueflame Certification Ltd and UK Certification Ltd.
Training courses vary in length depending on your experience and whether you are combining courses.
You are not allowed to be assessed by the person who trains you, and you are not allowed to take your assessment on equipment that you have trained on. (ISO 17024)
OFTEC Training and Assessment: examples as follows–
- OFT 105E Domestic Oil Firing System Installation and Energy Conservation Measures in Buildings
- OFT 101 Domestic/light Commercial Pressure Jet Appliance Commissioning and Servicing
- OFT 102 Domestic Vaporising Appliance Commissioning and Servicing
- OFT 600A Domestic / Non-domestic Oil Storage and Supply Installation
- OFT 103 BS 7671 Defined Scope Electrical Installation and Maintenance Course
- OFT 800 Oil Delivery Driver
There are two types of assessment:
1. Theory only – multiple choice questions
2. Theory and practical assessment
During theory assessment, you are able to resource information from OFTEC Technical Books and are allowed to have a second attempt if necessary to gain the correct answer.
During a practical assessment, an OFTEC Approved Assessor will observe you undertaking practical activities on appliances and equipment.
