Why you should use an OFTEC Registered Technician

You spend a sizeable proportion of your income during the winter months on keeping warm – why not maximise your heat output and reduce your expenditure?

Sounds simple; it is! If you have your boiler serviced by an OFTEC Registered Technician they will provide you with a printout telling you how efficient your boiler is. An annual service will keep your boiler in tip top condition and make sure your efficiency level is maximised. Remember, it only takes a 2mm layer of soot to reduce your efficiency by 5%!

If your boiler requires attention or would benefit from the addition of controls then the technician can advise you on the best additions that suit your system. If your boiler is elderly and requires replacement a modern oil condensing boiler (SEDBUK A rated) will deliver efficiencies of over 90% and is a requirement under proposed revised building regulations in Northern Ireland.

If having your boiler serviced, make sure you ask the technician if he is registered. Ask for a quote up front on how much the service is going to cost and what it includes. A proper service should include having the boiler cleaned, a replacement nozzle (if required), a check of the burner and associated equipment, a combustion analysis and a quick check of your tank.

If you do not receive this level of attention then you may be paying for a ‘boiler clean’ which while helpful is not as comprehensive as a service – make sure you ask what your are getting as it is usually too late afterwards!

Customers choose registered OFTEC technicians because they trust the OFTEC symbol as a sign of quality.
