OFTEC is a trade association and members’ organisation representing technicians and manufacturing companies throughout the UK and Ireland.
The association cooperates closely in many areas with local authorities and other organisations within the oil energy sector. The market share for oil in Ireland is very strong with 70% of homes in Northern Ireland and 40% of homes in the Republic using oil for water and space heating - it is not surprising that politicians, government officials and other interested parties within the energy sector listen to what OFTEC has to say.
Our registered technicians span from one man businesses, servicing a few hundred households, to large companies, serving several hundred thousand consumers. One of the most important reasons to register with us is to let your customers know that you are a trained qualified craftsperson competent to carry out work to the highest standards.
This competence has been recognised by the Irish boiler manufacturers who now issue a boiler passport with every new boiler and will only offer warranty to installations carried out by a competent person – an OFTEC registered technician.
The Association is committed to having registered technicians who are trained and qualified and who comply with the relevant standards in their location. OFTEC encourages its registrants to maintain their knowledge and keep abreast of technology both from a technical viewpoint and from a business perspective.

OFTEC cooperates with heating organisations locally, nationally and throughout Europe to keep up to date on energy efficiency legislation, best practice and promoting the benefits of oil-fired heating and cooking. All this information is made available to registered technicians.
