OFTEC Urges Oil Users to Take Advantage of Scrappage Scheme
OFTEC; the leading representative for oil heating and cooking in the UK and Ireland, is urging the country’s 1.4 million oil users to take advantage of the boiler scrappage scheme before it’s too late.
A total of more than 50,000 vouchers have already been snapped up under the government’s boiler scrappage scheme, which was launched in January this year, leaving 70,000 vouchers still available.
The scheme aims to upgrade 125,000 household heating systems, including oil fired boilers, to increase the efficiency of boilers, cut carbon emissions and save people money on fuel bills.
Director General of OFTEC, Jeremy Hawksley says: “The boiler scrappage scheme is the perfect way for oil users to upgrade to a more environmentally-friendly boiler; which will not only run more efficiently, but will reduce bills saving householders up to £200 a year in fuel costs. The scheme entitles the 125,000 households in Britain with G-Rated boilers to upgrade, at a very low cost, to a more efficient A-Rated boiler or a renewable heating system. The voucher for trading in an G-Rated boiler is worth £400 off a new system, so OFTEC are encouraging oil users to act before all the vouchers are gone.”
The scrappage scheme has seen an encouraging response, with the Energy Saving Trust (EST) receiving an average of 5,000 enquiries on a daily basis.
Jeremy continues: “There are £28 million worth of vouchers still available through the Energy Saving Trust (EST) for the UK and Ireland, which means around 70,000 possible trade-ins are still up for grabs. We are reminding oil users that they are eligible to take advantage of this scheme.”
The scheme is helping householders to save hundreds of pounds every year off fuel bills and reduce emissions while helping to sustain work for the 130,000 installers and up to 25 UK-based boiler manufacturers.
